Should You Should Start A Blog In 2024

In the ever-evolving realm of health and wellness, standing out is not just a strategy—it's a necessity. Your brand is a beacon that guides clients on their wellness journey, and in 2024, blogging is the a resource that can be used to propel you beyond the noise. Now, you might be thinking, "Is blogging still relevant?" The short answer: Yes, and here's why.

The Current Digital Landscape

The digital environment is saturated, and as health and wellness professionals, the challenge is not just to be present but to be impactful. It's about creating a resonance that goes beyond the screen. As time has moved along we have all seen the tides continually change, and what was once considered a traditional tool, I believe will be making a glorious comeback—blogging.

Why Blogging Matters Now More Than Ever

In the era of quick-scroll content, where every post competes for a fleeting moment of attention, blogs stand as pillars of depth and substance. With blogging you don’t have to worry about following trends; you get to set them. AI is here, and it is here to stay. Google recently implemented AI assisted search into their platform, and I would be hard-pressed to believe that this tool is looking at fun dances on Tik Tok to find information to answer questions. No, it’s scouring the internet gathering information from relevant blogs and resources to come up with an easy to digest answer to your question. The best part, it links to the resources it searched; meaning if you create relevant and useful content, AI might just use it to help answer user questions, and link your website as one of it’s resources for further reading!

Establishing Authority and Expertise

When you're in the business of well-being, trust is your currency. Clients don't just seek services; they seek guidance from a trusted expert. Regular blogging positions you as a thought leader, a go-to source for valuable insights. You shouldn’t give up staying relevant and seen on social media, however, when push comes to shove, if you can exhibit your expertise in your field, you will have the upper hand on the fitness influencer that makes funny videos and can dance. Your potential clients want to trust that you can get them results. A blog showcasing your ability to provide those results can help develop that trust much quicker

Connecting with Your Audience

Blogs offer a medium to share not just information but stories. When running Sky Fitness, I found that sharing my personal wellness journey, with all its triumphs and challenges, resonated deeply with my audience. It's about forging connections beyond the professional realm; it's about becoming a relatable figure in their pursuit of well-being. If you can share that you are human too, and show some empathy for your clients through story-telling, you can start to develop those meaningful connections.

Don’t rely on ChatGPT to mass produce a million blogs for your website. Although a great tool for idea generation, it lacks the authenticity people seek, and that authenticity is what will make you stand out!

SEO and Visibility

Visibility is paramount. Your potential clients are searching online, and you want to be the guiding light they find. Blogs, when optimized well, become the compass that directs them to your brand. Google wants to provide valuable information that solves their users problems, much like you want to solve your clients fitness problems. So first, let Google become your client, and help them help you. Provide valuable information that answers common questions about your industry, common questions clients have when interacting with you, or cover misconceptions about your industry. Anything that helps Google answer their users questions, will ultimately come back to help you.

Time Management Tips

As health professionals, time is our most precious commodity. Consistency in blogging can be challenging, but it's not impossible. I've navigated this challenge myself, and I've learned that consistency is not about the quantity of content but the quality. Establish a schedule that aligns with your routine, and let each post be a meaningful contribution. Don’t just blog for the sake of blogging. I found it easiest for me, to break appart one large topic or question into 3-5 segments. Answer each segment with a high-quality 1000 word blog, and you have 3-5 blogs you can schedule for that month. I aim for at least one longer blog per week, and 2-3 shorter blogs. Find what works best for your schedule, and stay consistent with it. Like anything, it will be difficult in the beginning, but, I promise, it does get easier with time. Put in that work!

Content Ideas for Health and Wellness Professionals

The blank page can be intimidating, but your expertise is a wellspring of inspiration. Sharing my expertise in fitness and wellness was the backbone of my content creation. Whether it's debunking myths, providing practical tips, or narrating success stories, your unique perspective is your content goldmine. Whenever you have an idea for a blog, write it down in your notes app or on a napkin. Don’t rely on remembering it later! Having a plan for topics will help you stay focused and make the process easier.

As I have built brands for health and wellness professionals, I've come to understand that everyone has a unique story to tell. Your brand isn't just a business; it's a community, a beacon of hope for those seeking wellness. As you embark on your journey through blogging, remember that the magic lies in the authenticity of your story. Every triumph, every stumble—it's all part of the masterpiece that is your brand.

If you've made it this far, you're already on the path to transformation. Embrace the power of blogging, share your wisdom, and let your brand resonate in the hearts of those seeking wellness. The journey is yours, and the future is now—blog your way to brand elevation!
